The noise problem at Tyler's was a physical one, concrete floor hard walls and ceilings make every small noise bounce around the room and bunch of small noises becomes a roar, a curtain may help, but I doubt it is going to make a huge impact. I don't think the "zip it" idea is going to work James, we are a social club as much as a car club and if I can't carry on a few conversations at the monthly meeting over a meal and a couple beers, I'd just as soon not go. .

I understand and that's why I said get there early and/or get your talking done b/t 6:30/7:30 but I understand that at Rudinos it was quite possible to have a respectful conversation on the side when Rodney is talking whereas that was not the case at Tyler's.

Anyway, Kookoo's ideas look worth looking into as does Manchester Grill.

This Thursday night, 6:30. Rodney is listed as the speaker, so he should have a good idea about how a meeting would be there...

BTW, the acoustic problems at Tyler's didn't just apply to having conversations during the meeting, or hearing whomever was speaking, it applied to conversations before the meeting's start as well, it was extremely difficult to carry on a simple conversation with the person sitting across the table from you when everyone else in the room was trying to do the same. The first thing I said when I walked in the room was that it wasn't going to work very well for this simple fact. Its a shame because I loved the food/beer selection and a problem that could be solved pretty easily with some carpet on the floor and some acoustic ceiling tiles.

Manchester Grill has a nice banquet room. Unfortunately, according to their website they have some of the same restrictions we have encountered at other places, minimum purchases/ordering in advance/signing contracts/limited menu/one check for everyone/etc. Maybe they would be willing to be more flexible if someone called them?

Lynwood Grill didn't have much info on the website, so I gave them a call. They do have a meeting room that will accommodate 40+ folks and the guy that runs it is supposed to call me back. Its convenient for me to stop by after work, so I might do that today.

I'm actually going to the 'new' Lynnwood Grill tomorrow evening after a bike ride and will check it out too.

At this point would a quick thread on the Citydata forum be out of question just asking for recommendations? People love talking about going out to eat on there and the restaurants they like/dislike.

Matt that's a good idea. I usually check that place out and you can get some good info on places.

Did this happen Matt? If so what did you think?

I'd say it's out of the question based on how busy they are upon expansion to the new spot (athough kudos in this climate). The parking was pretty tight and it seems to really be somewhat of a summer hotspot. I went to El Rodeo in Pleasant Valley (not sure if it was even in the cards though) and that upstairs room that I've consumed many Dos Equiseses in, is very, very small.

I didn't make a City Data thread yet, but unless anyone thinks otherwise I'll toss the question out just to see. The main thing is location, so I'd venture to say RTP plus 15 miles the crow flies.

That is a bit of a shame since I talked with them on the phone and they seemed eager to have us and the description of the room seemed as though it would be a bit larger.

Actively looking for a new place to meet. We'll post up as soon as we can with a new meeting location.

We gave it a trial run last night and it's a pretty quiet place on a Wednesday evening, $2.50 pints on Wednesdays (good stuff like Fat Tire), nice food selection, and pool tables & games right next to our private room for those that may get there a little early.

The manager was really excited to have us as regulars if it works out.
