Bowie and I have been working on these for awhile. Publishing them now will make it possible for them to be voted on at the February meeting. Once voted on I will clean up and present the 2011 Edition of our By Laws on the forum.

Gwen,

My only comment would be in reference to 3.B.15 which talked about non-payment of dues (specifically renewals). Regarding the very last bit that talks about the repercussion of not paying your dues after the grace period, I appreciate the mention of loosing forum access, but I actually like the more generic text that says you are to be removed from the rolls of the club. If I was to suggest a change to make sure people understand what it means to no longer be a member, you might word it something like this…

Quote:
…, the delinquent dues are still not paid, the member shall be dropped from the rolls of the club and loose the benefits granted to active members. This would include, but is not be limited to forum access, registration discounts and championship points.

That text is just an example. Feel free to use as is or tweak as needed.

Richard

Richard, PM headed your way.

I think you meant III.B.13, but the call is in to Bowie.

ARTICLE III.B.13 will read as follows:

13. If, on January 1st, a member’s dues are not paid for the following dues period, he shall be allowed a period of grace of ninety (90) days with no penalty. If the ninety day period of grace expires without payment of dues, no points for events or meetings may be accrued, and non-member entry fees must be paid for events, unless the delinquent dues are paid. If at the end of the 90 day period from January 1st, the delinquent dues are still not paid, the member shall be dropped from the rolls of the club and loose the benefits granted to active members. This would include, but is not be limited to, registration discounts, championship points, and forum access.

It appears that Article V is missing sub heading "D", and under that heading Item 2c uses the word "ensure" - should that read "insure"?

Definition of ENSURE
transitive verb
: to make sure, certain, or safe : guarantee

If the word is correctly "ensure" then we need an object to the verb, i.e.
Examples of ENSURE

1. They took steps to ensure the safety of the passengers.
2. <regulations that ensure the wholesomeness of our food>
3. Take all steps possible to ensure the safety of participants, spectators, and cars.

Item V2d1 - Does the Event Chair actually set the entry fee? I thought that was determined by the appropriate VP(s)

Item V2d3 - "shall turn.....to the appropriate destination..." should "destination" be replaced by "Club Officer" or "Executive Staff Member"? and then list the examples as shown.

Article VII - line 4 reads "...become due of payable...". Should that read "due or payable"?

Article VIIII - Does Robert Plank know we are incorporating his Rules of Order?

Respectfully submitted,
Charlie Guthrie

V C 2 c "Take all steps possible...." I'm not sure what is intended, but it may be I need better glasses. LOL
BTW Thanks, this usually takes a lot of thought, effort and work.

Hi Don! For those of us that are optically challenged by "maturity", just remember "Ctrl +". Makes those fine print web pages as big as you like (just like taking as many little blue pills as you like).

Interesting catch, guys. I went back and checked. "Ensure" comes directly from the original by laws. I'll ask Bowie tomorrow about the intent. Proper numbers, letters, spelling, typos, etc will be corrected in the final printing. Hoping now for basic content.

Again, glad you're reading the by laws. And, thanks.

I agree with the comments on V.2.C. The statement either needs to be "insure" as in provide protective coverage or it needs to stay as "ensure" and be continued for a complete sentence (as in ensure satisfaction for all). The way it reads right now, it is an incomplete sentence

Hey all.....

Just to make sure you re-read these and be ready to vote on these at the meeting this week, assuming the final version is ready by then.

Thanks!!

C.2.c (c.Take all steps possible to ensure participants, spectators, and cars.)
has been cut from the proposed by laws.

They are ready to be voted on Wednesday night. Remember, we're just voting on the content. All the proper numbering, etc will be done once we've voted. There will be several copies available at the meeting for those interested in reading them.
